A lot of people tend to stick to plain neutral colors and styles when it comes to decorating the bathroom, but it doesn’t have to be that way. With a bit of flair and imagination, you can have fun incorporating different themes into your bathroom design while still keeping it tasteful.

Here are some of our favorite themes to help inspire you to take your bathroom to the next level!

Safari Themed

Incorporating elements of an African atmosphere like beautiful wooden finishes, raw stone, wild animal print, and plenty of rich foliage will convert your bathroom into a subtle Safari spa!

Go even further by installing a personal sauna to bring the heat of Africa into your home.

Your Favorite City

A mini getaway doesn’t have to be expensive. Imagine visiting your favorite city just a few steps away from your own bedroom! With a city themed bathroom, it’s the perfect vacation for those on a tight budget! The trick to pulling off a city-themed bathroom is being subtle subtlety; you don’t want your bathroom looking like a souvenir shop.

Incorporate one iconic piece of your favorite city, and then include other elements into your overall design. For instance, if you’re doing a Parisian themed bathroom, you might include one painting of the Eiffel tower, and use a French style for your fixtures.

Or, if you want to capture The Big Apple in your bathroom, you might include a photo of the New York skyline, and use sleek, modern, and straight edges in the rest of your design.

Blast to the Past

Many people like to base their bathroom designs on the past. Similar to our guidelines to city themed bathrooms, the key here is to incorporate some bold design elements without going overboard. You don’t want your bathroom to look outdated!

Try using one major statement piece, like a claw foot tub for a Victorian themed room, a Hollywood glam style vanity mirror for a retro vibe, or a pillared marble countertop for an Athenian inspired room.

The key is not to go overboard with your theme. One small statement piece should give your guests the idea of your theme, while the accents, artworks, colors and textures will do the rest of the work for you.
